Collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)

Our partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) draws on the knowledge of leading experts to find practical solutions that we can use in the field.   We have been working together since 2007. The first agreement, from 2007 until 2010, resulted in the development of an integrated biodiversity management system (BMS).

Building on the success of the initial engagement, a second agreement was signed in 2011 for 3 years. Holcim and IUCN will work together on the following objectives:

  • Implementing the Biodiversity Management System (BMS) across the Group
  • Working with policy makers and legislators to enable the building materials sector to deliver better
    biodiversity conservation outcomes
  • Influencing the development of sector-wide standards for biodiversity conservation
  • Strengthening Holcim’s approach to water management

The partnership includes an expert panel to advise and support Holcim in the implementation of the BMS in the Group.
